Airport Arrival Process

Picking You up at Detroit Metro Airport (DTW)

Airport pickups are usually quick and easy, and a little communication helps everything go as smoothly as possible.

Since I track your flight, I’ll know when you’ve landed, and once you’ve collected your luggage and are ready to head outside, I’ll time my drive in from the cell phone lot so we can connect as efficiently as possible.

DTW recommends curbside pickup on the arrivals level and provides cell phone waiting lots for drivers who are waiting nearby until their traveler is ready.

Step 1: Please let Me Know When You’re Ready

After you’ve collected your luggage and are ready to go outside, please text or call me so I can head to the pickup area.

Airport curb areas are meant for active loading only, so the best timing is just prior to when you are ready and waiting outside.

Step 2: Go to the Designated Pickup Door

For the easiest and fastest pickup, please wait near the end of the arrivals platform, where traffic is often lighter and it is usually easier to pull in and out smoothly.

If you are at the McNamara Terminal Domestic Arrivals, please go past Door 5.

If you are at the McNamara Terminal International Arrivals, please go past Door 2.

If you are at the Evans Terminal Arrivals, please go past Door 4.

Step 2: Go to the Designated Pickup Door

Once I leave the waiting lot, I’ll send you a link to route via Google Maps so you know when I’m on the way and how close I am.

I’ll be driving a dark red Hyundai Tucson with the Topher Trips logo in a white circle on the front passenger-side door, which should make the vehicle easy to spot.

Step 4: If We Miss Each Other

If traffic or timing causes us to miss each other on the first pass, please stay at the same pickup area and send me a quick message right away.

I can make a loop and return to the end of the arrivals platform again for another pickup attempt.
